IOT applications and Firebase Simple Using Google Cloud Platform
Seeing the current pace of technological development is very rapid, demanding technology enthusiasts also vying to follow the existing technology. What are the wishful thinking a few years ago and is considered unlikely to materialize may become a reality today or the next few months. Similarly, today's Internet technology, where the first time the technology is present through the Personal Computer and feels quite expensive to enjoy sophistication. Now the Internet can be enjoyed by all people from children to adults. You could say the need for the internet in the past has now become a very important requirement. Can be proved by most of us already can not be separated from Internet services such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, as well as the various services provided by Google. One contributing factor to this is the low cost internet connection provided by providers intenet, so do not rule out future every tool that we have will also be connected to the internet.
Increasingly cheap and easy internet access make the technology more widely used. It became an idea that became the basis of the emergence of the term Internet of Things, where an internet connection is not only used by humans, but is also used by the tools that exist around us. One system can we develop the concept of IOT is a smart home, where all the objects and conditions of our homes can be monitored in real time whether we are inside or outside the home. We as homeowners can easily control the lighting outside or inside the house, opening or closing the blinds, room temperature room know just by using the smartphone.
We will try to create a tool that can be applied in a small scope SmartHome concept. This tool will provide a facial image to homeowners via smartphones shortly after pressing a doorbell. Every person who rang the doorbell of the house, automatically drawing the face to be caught by the camera and sent to the homeowner via his smartphone. Homeowners will open the door if deemed recognize a face appearing in smartphones. Indirectly, this application can avoid unknown guest by homeowners so that the crime rate can be minimized.
This application uses the Raspberry Pi 3 as the primary controller containing Things img Android as the operating system (in-depth explanation contained in the link ). Because this tool involves two devices that Raspberry Pi 3 as a controller and Android smartphones as a user interface, and therefore you need software that can be used to build the system on both. Things Android is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that is used to build Android applications as well as its features fully compatible with Android img Things.
As illustrated in the block diagram above, when the switch / doorbell is pressed, the camera takes an image captured by the camera immediately after pressing the button. The images produced by the camera are sent by the Raspberry Pi to a cloud storage service called Firebase and forwarded to a Cloud service called Google Cloud Platform Processing. Google Cloud Platform Service is what will inform the user to the image patterns without the need to add another mobile analytics separately. All the results of the analysis of the Google Cloud Platform will be returned to Firebase to be recorded and notified to the user via the Android smartphone app. Devices that are required in this application include the Raspberry Pi 3, micro SD 8 GB, Raspberry Pi camera module, and as a doorbell push button as shown in the figure below.

Does not rule out the possibility in the future, we can add features to store the image pattern of family members and the door will automatically open whenever recognizable image capture. Tutorial to create Smart Doorbell application can be followed on the link .
